earthtone9: lo-def(inition) discord triple-gatefold vinylback
Project details: layout & design
Vinyl artwork and packaging design for the reissue of earthtone9's album lo-def(inition) discord - this is probably the most elaborate piece of vinyl packaging I've worked on. To represent the faact that the original album was essentially three demoes collected together, the re-release was pressed on triple 10 inch blue vinyl. The original CD version of the album had a cover image that was simply a bubble-wrap texture - et9, being the contrarians they are, wanted a cover "with as little style and meaning as possible". The challenge for the reissue became: how do we stick with that, but make something cool and collectable? So, the bubble-wrap remained, albeit with a better quality image, with the colours pumped up a little, then embossing and UV spot lamination was used to really bring out the texture of the bubbles and create a tactile, three dimensional package.
